This past football week has been filled with controversy and excitement. We’ve seen Shiva Boys lose points and dropped to second place after losing a ruling concerning the use of a player in the Naparima game. The exciting derby between Presentation College and Naparima College ending with Naparima College being victorious over their rivals. Last but not least, Carapichaima East and Presentation College facing disciplinary action after their players clashed last weekend during their encounter. Every football week gets better and better with competition becoming stiffer. Three teams, Shiva Boys, Naparima College and Presentation College are currently tied on 13 points with Shiva Boys in first place on goal difference. This can all change if all the South teams drop points today and St Anthony’s College and Fatima College win their respective games.
Fatima College v Shiva Boys
These two teams are on a roll, their forms are impeccable and luck seems to be on Fatima’s side. This game’s result can definitely shape the league table and the chances of both teams claiming victory of the title itself. First place Shiva Boys taking on fourth position Fatima College, the winner will need to get everything perfect for this encounter. We look forward to an exciting match up and may the best team win.
Carapichaima East v St. Benedict’s
The central team is coming off a win against St Mary’s College and St Benedict’s continue to look for that much needed 3 points. They are currently still in last position whereas Carapichaima East are in 8th position. A win today can see them become title contenders based on results from the top 4 matches. A win today for St Benedict’s will take them out of the relegation zone if the two other teams do not pick up points.
Trinity College Moka v Trinity College East
Will the real Trinity please stand up? One is from the East and One is from the North. Who will be victorious today? That is the question that will be answered after the game has been played. Trinity College East are coming off back to back wins while their rivals by name are finding it difficult to pick up a point, they have lost their last two games.
Naparima College v St. Mary’s College
This was a huge fixture in recent times. These two teams will be chasing after the much needed 3 points. Naparima College will be hoping to lead the table after today’s encounter. St Mary’s College need a win today as they sit right above the relegation zone in 11th place. This would be a difficult game for St Mary’s College as Naparima College are currently the most in form team in the league, with back to back spectacular wins, we look forward to this evening’s match.
Queen’s Royal College v St. Anthony’s College
We have been anticipating this game before the season started. This is probably the game that Coach Grosvenor is looking forward to. He coaching his new team QRC against his old team St. Anthony’s College. Technically it’s Grosvenor versus Grosvenor as up to last season he coached St. Anthony’s with the majority of the team still playing. Based on position, St. Anthony’s College are the better team, but we have seen Queen’s Royal College put on a winning performance in their home ground before.
Fyzabad Sec v Presentation College
The only south match up for today. Fyzabad Secondary seem to have drop their consistent form which could benefit Presentation College. They both lost their last match and will be looking for the win to move up in the league table. Presentation College will be without a few key players when they meet up later today.
St Augustine v Speyside High
St Augustine are currently the dark horse in the race. They are in 7th position and 10 points with a game on hand. A win today would most likely put them in the top 4 with a game on hand still. They will play Speyside High who are currently struggling with only one win this season and the worse goal difference in the league.
Signal Hill v San Juan North
Signal Hill has been the better of the two Tobago teams, however today they will play a team that currently host the league’s top scorer, Brandon Semper. San Juan North are coming off a goalless draw against Shiva Boys and will surely be determined to goals to their tally when they meet Signal Hill.
